Stop the Clot Campaign

In the UK there are 32,000 deaths from hospital acquired blood clots each year, many of which are preventable.  This is more than the combined total number of deaths from breast cancer, AIDS, traffic accidents and MRSA.

NHS North East Essex is supporting Stop the Clot, a life saving campaign which aims to raise public awareness of the risks of blood clots acquired in hospitals.  The campaign, which has been developed through the partnership of Anticoagulation Europe and sanofi-aventis, is urging people admitted to hospital to ask a healthcare professional for a blood clot risk assessment.
